The Pineapple Ranch - Delray Beach, Florida

We have alot of animals on our ranch, we have one black cat named Patty, about 170 homing pigeons and we have two Amazon parrots, Cliff and Thelma. Inside the house we have an African Grey parrot named Stanley and one cocokatiel named Pineapple. Let me tell you about our pets...

Patty is a beautiful black cat we adopted. She used to live in a cramped trailer with her brother. We adopted them both but one night Blackie got killed, so now its just Patty.

The birds are fun too...Stanley is a character. We brought him home from the pet store and it was just like bringing home a baby, he got so much attention! We used to go and see him every day until he was weaned. Then we brought him home and Cliff hand fed him some more until he started eating seeds all by himself. He talks. He says, “Hello” he says, “Hi guys” and “Hey idiot” .He says other stuff too. He copies the exact sound of the phone beeps when you dial it. He is a very manipulative bird. He is our guard dog and whenever someone comes near the door like the UPS man he growls at them. No stranger is safe in our house, he dislikes them all. Stanley likes to be loose and loves Cliff. He is bonded to Cliff and that is like, his mother. I am just an annoyance to Stanley, although I am the one who feeds him.

The two Amazons are very colorful and very noisy. When they see me coming they make a racket! They also talk, they say “hello” and “pretty bird” and “Yeah, you were”. Whatever that means...I don’t feed them all the proper food they need, just peanuts. I have to get them on a better diet. They are very hyper birds and have very sharp beaks. They can rip your finger off if you put it in the cage. They have mauled me several times...You have to be careful with exotic birds.
